Hybrid and Electric vehicles increase numbers and offer great savings

November 6, 2018

Electric vehicles cost an average 23% less to service and maintain, over three years/60,000 miles than petrol models. A recent study by an automotive data expert found the gap widens for smaller vehicles: a Renault Zoe will cost on average £1,100 to maintain over the period, while a Vauxhall Corsa 1.0T 90 Deisgn costs £1,497, an increase of 35.7%. The research found a Nissan Leaf costs £1,197 over three years. 19% lower than the VW Golf 1.0TSI 110SE at £1,429.

Vehicle car rental fleets have more than doubled the number of alternative powered vehicles over recent years. The car and van hire industry play a central role to improve the sustainability of motoring in UK and have taken advantage of the fact that many more manufacturer's are producing hybrid and electric vehicles, making them available to the rental industry.
